Happy New Years!

First off, a very very belated Happy New Years to everyone out there! I hope 2014 up to this point has been treating you well! 2013 for me was a fantastic, crazy year- pretty hard to believe that just over a year ago I learned for the first time where I was going to be spending my exchange.

(Cheesy pontificating alert.) Last January, I never could have imagined being where I am right now, having experienced and learned so many amazing, unexpected things. I graduated in Canada with great joy (and relief), then returned  to high school a short three months later. I made some amazing friends from around the world, tearfully said goodbye to them as they left Canada, and then made even more when I came to Mexico. Just looking back at all I've ad the chance to do has made me a little awestruck- I'm so lucky! It definitely hasn't been all a walk through the sunshine and rainbows, but every tough situation I went through made me grow and mature as a person. It is pretty amazing how much your perspective on things can change in just one year, or even just five months in another country! I was incredibly lucky to have such fantastic opportunities and to be around so many wonderful people last year. It's hard to believe,  but I have a feeling this year will be even better than the last! My exchange year is nearly halfway through- where did the time go?! Even though the six month period that remains seems like a lot of time, it's going to go very fast. So far I have a lot of smaller trips planned and then a few big ones to look forward to.  In less than two months I will change to my third and final family. In April, we will be going for a week to a district-wide conference in Queretaro. At some point after that, my parents will come to visit. In May I will be heading off on the Ruta Maya, a month long trip where we will travel from Mexico City all the way down to Cancun. Then shortly after that it'll be time to step on the plane and return to the mountainous ranges and windy plains of Alberta. It's going to be a busy next few months, and I can't wait!

Saludos,

Wendy
