Spanish Classes

We started Spanish classes the second week of September, and the advanced class (in other words all 7 exchange students minus the one from Taiwan) meets every Tuesday, Thursday and then Friday for a fun activity.  They started off pretty basic due to the very varied levels of Spanish in the class, but they've definitely already been helpful! The teacher is super relaxed, and has a nice sense of humour, which makes things lively. It's also nice seeing the other exchange kids during the week. However, the fun times are on Friday. So far, we've visited Cerro de la Cruz, gone on a sketchy tour bus around Tepic, visited an old style bakery, and gone to a museum in the centre!

Cerro de la Cruz- Gorgeous day, good times!

Touribus! Didn't take many pictures of the city, but we stopped at the top of this extremely steep hill, and there was a Huichol camp at the top (the indigenous people of Nayarit), where they were selling shakira bead art, and these awesome tacos. They were PURPLE! And had nopales on the side, which I absolutely love (they kind of taste like beans, but better- they are segments of a prickly pear).

The coolest tacos- the tortilla was PURPLE

Shakira art- pretty beautiful!

Our borderline rickety tour bus

The view from the top of the hill!

Authentic old fashioned bakery! I'm glad I don't know the location of this place, I'd be frequenting it entirely too much- delicious bread, only 2 pesos EACH. What. For just a dollar, you can get 6 bread items... Nom nom.... :) We piled up this enormous plate full of baked goods for ourselves. Yum!

Random museum in the centre- I can't really give much of a background here, as I don't know the name. It was a very tiny exhibit, displaying a few reconstructions of the native Mexican grave sites, and various ceramic jars and sculptures that had been unearthed! It was a quick walk through, but very interesting!

Street vendor selling sugar cane!

Basically, you chew on the chunks, suck out all the delicious juice, then spit out the fibre.
 Interesting, but dang it's delicious!

Well, there are our Friday adventures with Spanish class!

Thanks for reading,

Adios!
